Sarracenia flava

Sarracenia flava, the Yellow Pitcher Plant, is one of the tallest and most elegant North American carnivorous plants. Known for its striking yellow-green pitchers and distinctive hooded lid, S. flava encompasses a wide range of varieties — from the classic all-yellow form to the dramatically veined and red-pigmented varieties like var. rubricorpora, var. ornata, and var. maxima.

Our flava collection features hand-selected cultivars and self-crosses grown outdoors at our Gulf Coast nursery under full sun conditions, chosen for vigor, coloration, and pitcher size. Whether you're building a bog garden or expanding your collection, these plants are ready to perform.

  • Light: Full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Water: Tray method with pure water (rain, distilled, or RO)
  • Soil: 1:1 peat and perlite or long-fiber sphagnum
  • Dormancy: Required — 3 to 4 months at 35–50°F
